Canada Media Fund extends the second round application deadline for the Experimental Stream

On August 31, 2010, The Canada Media Fund (www.cmf-fmc.ca) announced that it will be extending the second round application deadline for the Experimental Stream from October 4, 2010 to November 14. 2010. $27 million is available through the fund this year, with 60% of the fund being allocated to first round applicants and 40% to second round applicants. The first deadline was July 5, 2010, and the CMF expects to announce winning first round applicants in early October 2010. For more information regarding the Experimental Stream, please visit the website.

The Experimental Stream supports the creation of innovative Canadian interactive digital media content and application software. This program is designed to support the research and development of leading-edge content and applications intended to facilitate the distribution of Canadian content.

Projects funded through this program must be developed for commercial use through the Canadian media industry or public use by Canadians. Funding is allocated according to a selective process using an evaluation matrix. For details, read the Experimental Stream guidelines.

Next Media – Monetizing Digital Media

Here are two presentations I liked best at Next Media – Monetizing Digital Media conference -= Shelly Palmer’s “Will ‘free’ save the future?” and Marina Mann’s talk on affiliate marketing. I also tremendously liked Ilona Posner’s workshop on usability. It was fun!

You can find notes for other presentations in David Peralty’s blog.

Read on for notes on Shelly Palmer’s and Marina Mann’s presentations.

Next Media – Monetizing Digital Media conference

I’ll be volunteering at Next Media – Monetizing Digital Media conference at CIRCA next week. The schedule looks promising. If you are there, drop by to say hello.

(Also there are Fastlane event and Toronto Wiki Tuesday on Tuesday Nov. 11th, and I am finishing the translation of Irvin Yalom’s “Momma and the Meaning of Life” into Russian – still 90 pages left and I must finish by about Nov. 15th so we have some time for editing before the deadline which is on the 25th… Also, I am still unable to figure out why most networking events in this city are scheduled for Tuesdays. Has anybody found a way to be in two places at once? Is it possible that there are several separate crowds and each one goes to its own set of events? Somehow I don’t think so.)
